On 22 January 2007, the Guiding Light cast
and crew brought passion, commitment, and compassion to Hands On Gulf Coast for a week of building. The trip kicked off the Guiding Light's 70th anniversary year, and initiated a year-long commitment to service with
Hands On Network's affiliates across the country.
Two staff members went above an beyond to make this all possible. Sheli McNeill handled the administrative
project management details, while Eddie Sherman lead a crew of builders (including veterans Luc Lamarche and Brian Deubert) through
the grueling schedule of getting three houses ready for actors to work on the 22nd of January 2007.
We didn't know what to expect when the cast and crew arrived, but any nervous butterflies on the morning of the 22nd quickly turned into
excited anticipation for the week of service together. Our families couldn't have fit together better. All the cast and crew worked so hard, impressing the heck
out of the crew leads. In turn, our dedication to the Gulf Coast and the residents of Biloxi impressed them.
We wrapped up a week of fantastic work with teary good-byes and a quick concert by Deborah Gibson. One actor, Robert Newman,
was so touched by what we were doing, that he extended his stay four more days.
Fast forward to 14 February 2007, and the one-hour episode aired on CBS Daytime. Find it; watch it. It's compelling, sincere, and fun.
